I am not writing this post today to increase views on my blog or to cause some uprising instead I am writing today because I feel a great urge to write something on the topic because I feel I have voted for the government and have full democratic rights to express my opinion.
After the actor Mr. Amir Khan expressed his opinion about rising intolerance in India there has been an upheaval in heated comments. there are people supporting him for keeping his opinion and there are people who are against his opinion. I am concerned more about What would have happened if nobody had reacted on it? I think it would have gone two ways. Either Mr. Amir khan would make comments on intolerance in many other interviews on rising intolerance or he would stop talking about it ultimately. what encouraged me to write is not his comment on growing intolerance as he was invited there to speak on it since the interview was based on that but his statement that it has been growing since the last 6-7 months force me to write today.
First Let me clear the notion behind heated debate. The main reason behind having a debate on rising intolerance were two events which occurred recently. One was the "Dadri case" where a man is murdered by a mob for eating beef. The other was sacrifice of a colonel fighting terrorist in Kashmir. I feel the first event has more effect in creating heated debates than the later. And this could be understood in a very simple pattern. There is a famous saying "jab tak khud pe na bete tb tk samaj nahi aega"; "until you are a part of an unfortunate event you won't be able to feel the real pain". It is true and it is a human behavior where we often show sympathy in place of empathy. What happened in Dadri alarmed us that incident as such could happen to us or in the secure places, secured from the terrorist boundaries, while soldiers still die everyday on the borders saving country and countrymen. The sacrifice of soldiers doesn't alarm us instead it make us feel sad about the incident for a day or two and then our life continues.But if a person is killed in our neighborhood for keeping beef by some 7-8 cowards we are alarmed more than being sad.
Do we really think a ruling party has an affect on all bad events happening in the country. Incidents like this have been from decades and the root cause behind that is sick or negative mentality. There are people in all section of society who cultivate this sick mentality because they feel vulnerable to speak out in open and this cause that mentality to grow within them like a virus which come out as their violent actions. After the BJP government came in power there are two opinions. One comes from an educated mass which forms 90% of voting community and one comes from rest 10% who are either unaware of the facts due to illiteracy or are stubborn about their wrong opinions which they are taught by their grandfather or which have been a part of there family hierarchical system for long. 90% of the educated mass which consist of people from every community within the country will see the positives they expected out of the government like "Clean India initiative, Make in India, Improved railway food. road constructed per day, Jandhan Yojna, Increasing foreign investment, Improve image of India in the world platform. The other 10% will find loopholes and they definitely will as nothing is perfect. and after finding them they will develop a negative mentality for "kuch nahi ho sakta is desh ka" and cry about things for the next 5 years and the years after. I would like to be part of the 90% masses and focus on country's development rather then making political remarks on communal disharmony and preventing government to make reforms.
I think what Amir khan said was more of "innocent remark" than being an intelligent answer. He is a public figure invited to talk in front of an elite personnel. He might have not framed his answer but he didn't focus on the question much and gave a childish answer. I am no one judging him for his remarks but giving my opinion as he gave his on rising intolerance. And I feel the debate should be on the root cause of intolerance that is the sick mentality rather than making comments on what Mr.Amir khan has said. Aam Admi Party leader Mr. Arvind Kejriwal supported Mr.Amir Khan by posting his letter on Facebook, Twitter etc, and like always tried to revenge BJP or I should say Mr.Modi by comfortably hiding behind his self proclaimed image of honest and humble. I support Mr Kejriwal for his anti corruption policies but I find him hilarious when he come to Facebook whenever he finds something against Mr.Modi. It reminds me of my childhood days "papa papa ye mujhe khelne nahi de rha".
At the end I will make only one point; we need to get over portraying Mr.Modi as "Hindu Neta" and stop being so obsessed with him that we forget that there is a nation to serve.
